I had a lot of problems connecting my 7650 to
my email servers via the Vodafone network. The Vodafone website does not help much.
But eventually they sorted it out. Here is what to do:
Check the Access point settings. Use the PC Suite for Nokia 7650 software if you have Bluetooth or Infra red connectivity, if not use the phone and open Tools/Settings/Connection/Access points. Look for those that have a G icon to the left of them. Use Options/Edit on them (you may only have one called Vodafone GPRS) and see if you have one where the Access point name is internet. If you do have one, note the Connection name. If not, you need to create another access point with the details the same as those in the Vodafone GPRS access point, but with the Access point name set to internet. It goes without saying that this is easiest with PC Suite for Nokia 7650, but from the access points menu, you can use Options/New access point/Use default settings. You might like to call the new access point Email. You will need to input the username and password. Call 191 and when you are through the voicemail system, ask for technical support. They should give you the username and password. Make sure you have all the other settings the same as in Vodafone GPRS.
Set up your email boxes on the phone. This is much easier if you can use the PC Suite for Nokia 7650 software, as you can copy and paste the details from Outlook (or whatever you use). If you don't have Bluetooth or IR connectivity, you will have to enter them via the phone. Open Messaging then use Options/Settings, open E-mail/Mailboxes. Now use Options/Edit and input your email server’s details. Use the access point name that you noted or created above.
You should now be able to connect to the mail box (it tells you how to do this is in the manual) to retrieve email messages.
If you find that you can receive emails, but that sending emails fails, change your mail box setting and set the Outgoing mail server to 62.213.128.92
That's it.
